Increasing Qi and bloodflow

Cupping therapy is a therapeutic method that helps to promote mental and physical health and healing. It can reduce the following: pain, inflammation, deep scar tissues in muscles and connective tissues, muscle knots and swelling for the whole body.

Cupping therapy has been used extensively in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. From a Chinese Medicine standpoint, the negative pressure created by the suction works to stimulate local acupuncture points and increase Qi and blood flow along the meridians in order to promote the free flow of Qi required for the body to function at its optimal potential.

Providing deep tissue treatment

Cupping therapy involves the use of cups to create local suction on the skin that mobilizes blood flow to promote healing. The skin is drawn upwards creating a vacuum over the targeted area in pain or an acupuncture point.

The cups are sometimes moved while the suction is active, causing a regional pulling of the skin and muscle referred to as gliding cupping. The vacuum suction can be created using cups made of glass, medical-grade silicone, or through a mechanical suction pump.

Cupping therapy provides deep tissue treatment because it can release toxins and clear blockages beneath the external skin.

Additionally cupping therapy can be used to treat lung and respiratory conditions including the common cold and asthma. It can also aid in fertility, improve digestion, and alleviate symptoms of eczema, acne, high blood pressure, migraine, anxiety and depression.
